If your home has radiators or steam heat but no air ducts, a ductless mini-split gives you another way to add heating and cooling. Indoor units connect to an outdoor condenser through refrigerant lines, a drain, and wiring. We look at the house before deciding where those connections should run.
Appearance matters too, especially in an older home. On a 1925 Ballston Spa project, we installed eight zones on two condensers and used paintable line covers matched to the siding. Your estimate is a chance to discuss unit placement and what the finished installation will look like.

Real Astello installs
This 1925 two-story home stood on a 6-acre waterfront lot and had original plaster, wood-frame walls, and limited insulation. We used a Manual J load calculation and installed eight zones on two condensers, one on each side of the house. Paintable line covers were matched to the siding.
The installation included a basement ceiling cassette for heating and summer moisture control. The oil system was removed, and the project received the maximum rebate it qualified for, with Astello handling the paperwork.
This three-story Rensselaer building was being converted to apartments. Each apartment received a concealed 4-way ceiling cassette on a cold-climate system, with condensers on the roof. We concealed the line runs to preserve the building's appearance and provide separate heating and cooling control for each apartment.
A bedroom upstairs and a room at the back of the house may need different amounts of heating or cooling. Separate indoor units let you adjust each zone, with the layout planned around how you use the rooms.
We discuss refrigerant-line routes and condenser locations as part of the installation plan. On our Rensselaer building project, concealed lines helped preserve the building’s appearance. Where lines remain visible, covers can help them blend with the house.
An addition or bonus room may only need one indoor unit. Several bedrooms with closed doors may need a different layout. We assess the rooms and heating load before recommending a single-zone or multi-zone system.
We visit your home, discuss whether a single-zone or multi-zone layout fits the rooms, and use a Manual J load calculation to guide the system size.
You receive a written quote setting out the equipment and installation work. We’ll talk through it with you before you decide.
We agree on the schedule with you and explain the work involved.
We test the system and show you how to use the controls and look after the filters.

Cold-climate ductless heat pumps are designed to heat in low outdoor temperatures and provide cooling in summer. The equipment and sizing need to suit your house, so we review the heating load before recommending a system for the Albany–Schenectady–Troy area.
No. Indoor units connect to an outdoor unit through refrigerant lines rather than air ducts. That can make ductless worth considering for an older home, an addition, or a room your current system doesn’t reach.
The number of zones, electrical work, and line routes all affect the schedule. We’ll discuss the expected installation time after looking at your home.

A single-zone system can suit one room, such as an addition or home office. For several rooms, we look at the layout, closed doors, insulation, and each room’s heating and cooling needs. That helps us decide where separate indoor units would be useful.
We install Mitsubishi Electric, Cooper & Hunter, and Senville ductless systems, and we’ll recommend the right fit for your home and budget. We also service most major brands.
