NYS Clean Heat rebates
Heat pump rebates are available through Astello for eligible projects. Start with an example, then change the details to see how the amount changes.
These three examples use National Grid electric service, a single-family home of at least 1,000 sq ft, and no designated-community increase. Examples 1 and 2 use the base tier.
The explorer is for systems sized to heat a whole house or complete apartment. Heating just one room does not meet that requirement.
Use what you know. “I’m not sure” is fine.
Check the delivery company on your electric bill. It may differ from your electricity supplier or gas provider.
For existing homes. Apartments are shown per dwelling, subject to building eligibility.
For the higher rebate for taking old heat out of service, the system must be permanently retired according to program rules.
The higher tier needs qualifying records or an assessment. Having insulation alone does not confirm it.
This depends on New York’s designated-community map, not household income alone.
These examples cover new cold-climate air-source heat pump installations sized to heat the whole house or complete apartment. Eligible electric accounts, equipment and installation are required. Installing new oil, gas or propane heating alongside the heat pump is not eligible.
A home or apartment that already received a full-load NYS Clean Heat incentive is not eligible for another under these categories. Adding to an existing heat pump system, new construction, larger buildings and other utilities need a separate review. The utility confirms the final rebate.
It is a higher rebate tier for qualifying homes. Eligibility can come from construction in 2011 or later, qualifying work through an approved insulation program, or a documented assessment. Astello can help you understand what needs checking.

Yes. NYS Clean Heat rebates are available through Astello for eligible heat pump and ductless mini-split projects in Troy and the Capital Region.
There isn’t one rebate amount for every home. Your electric utility, the type of home, the heating work and the home’s insulation can affect the amount. We’ll review these details with you.

The federal home-improvement tax credit for heat pumps ended for systems put into use after December 31, 2025. It is separate from NYS Clean Heat rebates. For a 2025 installation, ask your tax professional about eligibility. See the IRS instructions.
No. The home, electric account, equipment and installation must meet the program rules. These air-source heat pump rebates are for eligible existing homes. Adding a mini-split to just one room does not automatically qualify; the program has requirements for how much of the home’s heating the system provides.
Yes. The Weatherized Tier offers higher rebates for homes that meet its requirements. Depending on the home, this can be shown through its construction date, past insulation work through an approved program, or a documented assessment. We’ll explain what needs to be checked.
