As a participating contractor with the NYS Clean Heat Program, Astello offers our customers access to rebates and tax credits. We specialize in installing a variety of equipment, including both single zones and multi-zone systems, tailored to meet your specific needs

Traditional HVAC systems can get the job done, but what if there’s a better, more efficient way to keep your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer?

Heat pumps provide an affordable alternative and work efficiently in New York’s cold climate, while keeping homes cool in the warm weather months. The equipment works by transferring heat from the air, ground, or mechanical loop to heat homes and other conditioned spaces during heating season.

In warmer months, the device removes heat from the conditioned space, leaving it cool and comfortable.

The costs of upgrading shouldn’t be a barrier. Enter the New York State Clean Heat Program.

Benefits of the Clean Heat Program

The New York State Clean Heat Program represents a joint effort between various utility companies and the New York State Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Through various initiatives, the program aims to help homeowners live more comfortably. NYS Clean Heat makes it possible to upgrade to efficient, effective heat pumps, saving money and lowering their carbon footprints at the same time.

Benefits include:

Heat pump financing and rebates make upgrading to an efficient heat pump possible.
Incentives of up to 70% of total project costs make upgrading affordable.
Combined with NYSERDA programs, additional heat pump rebates may help pay for 70% to 100% of project costs.

Maximizing Your Tax Credit Potential

The Inflation Reduction Act caps the overall amount of tax credits a homeowner is eligible to receive in a single year for energy improvements to $3,200. This includes a $2,000 annual cap for any combination of heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, or biomass fuel stoves, and a $1,200 annual cap for any combination of home envelope improvements (e.g., insulation, windows, doors), electrical work, furnaces, boilers, or central air conditioners.

It may be to your benefit to make improvements over time to maximize your tax credit potential. For example, installing a heat pump heating and cooling system and a heat pump water heater in separate years may result in more tax credits than installing them at the same time. Work with your contractor to determine a roadmap for improvements that considers when equipment is due for replacement and your potential to save with tax credits and incentives.

Other Important Considerations

Not all equipment is eligible for tax credits or incentives. Work with your contractor to select qualifying equipment.
Equipment purchased and installed will be eligible for federal tax credits during the next tax season. For example, if you install a heat pump in 2023, you can apply for tax credits when you file your taxes in 2024.
